Joanne C. Chiu is a tax advisor and director of the China desk at Marks Paneth LLP, based in New York City. A certified public accountant, she has more than 20 years of accounting experience, including 15 years in public accounting.

Much of her practice involves EB-5, real estate, estates and trusts, e-Commerce, international tax, private equity and merger and acquisitions. She also provides critical networking services, linking clients to other professional service providers including bankers, lawyers and real estate professionals. Besides networking services, Joanne helps her clients grow their businesses.

Chiu joined Marks Paneth in 2000. At Marks Paneth, she founded the firm’s China desk, which assists Chinese clients interested in working, investing, raising capital or doing business in the United States.

Prior to Marks Paneth, Chiu worked for Sentinel Real Estate Corp. in New York from 1998 to 2000. She was a senior accountant overseeing an $800 million real estate investment fund. Chiu also worked for Texas Instruments in Taipei, Taiwan, as a cost accountant from 1995 to 1998.

She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Asian Real Estate Association of America and National Association of Asian American Professionals.

Chiu received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from New York University.
