Alvaro Javier Aguilar is a Panama immigration attorney. He is the founding partner and co-manager of Lombardi Aguilar Group, a consultancy firm based in Panama City, Panama, and founded in 2006.

Aguilar has more than a decade of experience helping clients in Latin America, the United States and Europe. He assists with commercial, banking, intellectual property, tax, asset protection and administrative law. He has also studied Roman, civil and common law systems.

Aguilar’s practice includes setting up private interest foundations and offshore structures in Panama, the British Virgin Islands, Belize, Delaware, the Cook Islands and other jurisdictions. He also serves as a legal advisor for family groups.

From 1993 to 2006, Aguilar was an attorney at Fábrega, Molino & Mulino, serving clients in North America and Europe with their various commercial, banking, intellectual property, tax and administrative law needs. His projects included being the lead Panama attorney in real estate and tax matters for a $15-million purchase by a Panama subsidiary of PriceSmart. He also was a tax attorney in the $500-million purchase by GE Consumer Finance of a stake in BAC International Bank, Inc., one of the largest banks in Central America. In 1991, Aguilar was an administrative intern for a tribunal of the Organization of American States in Washington, D.C.

Aguilar is an associate member of the New York State Bar Association and a member of the Panama Bar Association. He also heads a trade and investment committee of the American Chamber of Commerce Panama.

Aguilar, a published author and frequent guest speaker, graduated from Universidad Católica Santa María La Antigua with a J.D. in 1991. He has a master’s degree in international legal studies with a concentration in international trade and banking from American University’s Washington College of Law. He has also studied at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. and the University of Geneva. Aguilar attended some of his high school years in Vancouver, Canada.

Aguilar speaks Spanish, French, English and some Portuguese.
