Olivia S. Byrne is a real estate attorney and partner in the Washington D.C. office of K&L Gates LLP. She’s head of the law firm’s U.S. economic incentives practice, along with its real estate and public finance practices.

Byrne has over 20 years of experience in representing developers, for-profit companies and non-profit organizations in their real estate acquisitions, project renovations, and public/private partnerships. She assists clients in various real estate projects, including corporate headquarters, mixed use, retail, office, residential, manufacturing, warehouse, healthcare, hotels, restaurants, and sports arenas.

Byrne also provides public policy and legislative counseling, and she advises her clients regarding creative financing structures. Byrne has helped both her domestic and international clients seeking to come to the U.S. obtain economic incentives from various states. She and her team have proposals to certain corporations, such as manufacturing, which exceed $100 million in economic incentives.

Byrne was honored among Bisnow’s Top Women in D.C. Commercial Real Estate (CRE). She was also named one of Washington, D.C. Super Lawyers – Government Finance (2014, 2015, and 2016), and she is listed in Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the East, Who’s Who of American Women, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who in the World. Also, she’s been recognized by the Washington Business Journal for her mega real estate transactions.

Byrne earned her Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in economics at Bowdoin College in Maine. She received her Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in taxation from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. and her Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the University of Toledo College of Law in Ohio. Byrne is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia and Maryland. She speaks English and Spanish.
