Cross Border Transaction Advisor
Gretchen Yuan is a cross-border transaction advisor and principal with Hodes Weill & Associates, a global real estate advisory firm. Based in the Hong Kong office, Yuan works with institutional investors primarily in Mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
Before joining Hodes Weill & Associates, Yuan was a director of overseas investment at Country Garden Holding Co. Ltd., one of China’s largest developers. She was responsible for deal sourcing, business development, and raising capital for existing and potential real estate development projects.
Previously, Yuan was the founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of FundersLink in Boston, specializing in cross-border real estate investments. The U.S.-focused fund with Chinese high-net-worth capital was eventually acquired by a leading fund manager in China. Yuan began her career in real estate development and investment with Swire Properties in Hong Kong and later joined MGPA (now part of BlackRock), also in Hong Kong.
Yuan graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, summa cum laude, with a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in computer science. She earned a master’s degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) at Harvard University in Boston, under full scholarship.
Yuan is a past recipient of the MIT-CHIEF Business Competition First Prize (Web/IT Track), Harvard Business School Social Enterprise Fellowship, International Real Estate Association FIABCI Scholarship, and Joint Japan World Bank Scholarship. She speaks Cantonese, Mandarin, English, and French.
