Malcolm Riddell is a real estate attorney and head of RiddellTseng, a China-focused boutique investment bank and advisory firm he founded in Asia 30 years ago. As an investment banker and attorney, Riddell has been doing business in China for almost 40 years.

Considered an authority on China, Riddell, who speaks English and Chinese, specializes in cross-border transactions, especially joint ventures, between Chinese and Western companies; foreign direct investment in financial services, insurance, and real estate in China; negotiations with Chinese officials and business people; and public and private international law.

Riddell is also the founder of CHINADebate, an online site where investors and top China experts discuss issues that affect their investments.

Before starting his own company in 1988, Riddell was a real estate investment banker with Salomon Brothers.

Riddell earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at Harvard Business School, and he continued his graduate work in the Advanced Management Development Program (AMDP) in Real Estate at Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Riddell also earned a master’s degree in international affairs at Columbia University. He received his Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree at Stetson University College of Law in Florida. He is licensed to practice law in Florida.

With a concentration on Asia, Riddell did his post-graduate work at Harvard Law School’s East Asian Legal Studies Program. He continued his academic work at Harvard as a research associate at Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies, Asia fellow at John F. Kennedy School of Government, and a member of the Harvard China Fund Academic Committee. At Peking University Law School, Riddell was a senior visiting fellow and a member of the advisory board at the Center for Real Estate Law.
