Mark Liu is a corporate and securities attorney with Akerman LLP. On a global scale, he represents financial institutions and other companies in a variety of joint venture/private equity investment transactions, mergers and acquisitions as well as private and public capital markets transactions.

Liu consults clients on corporate and securities matters, as well as business matters such as corporate governance, corporate structuring and compliance and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting issues. Working on cross-border mergers and acquisitions and investment transactions, Liu offers guidance to U.S.-based companies looking to expand to Hong Kong and mainland China.

Advising emerging growth companies, Liu is skilled in handling exchange offers, initial public offerings (IPOs), pre-IPO and venture financings, Regulation D, Regulation S and Rule 144A offerings, secondary equity offerings and other private and public debt and equity offerings.

Some of Liu’s notable work includes:

• Representing China XD Plastics Company Limited in its sale of $100 million of convertible, preferred shares to Morgan Stanley Private Equity Asia

• Representing Ideation Acquisition Corp. in its $156.7 million merger with SearchMedia International Limited

Liu earned his Juris Doctor at the University of Iowa College of Law. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Liu is admitted to the bar in Florida. He speaks Mandarin.
