Michael Meagher is an investment banker and managing partner of Alantra China, a global investment banking, and asset management firm. He founded the company’s Shanghai office in 2008.

Meagher has handled cross-border foreign direct investment (FDI) projects in China for more than 25 years. In addition to cross-border mergers and acquisitions, Meagher’s areas of focus include investments, joint ventures, and project development in Asia. He has represented a wide range of clients, including those in healthcare, industrials, manufacturing, food services, and technology, media, and telecommunications (TMT).

Specializing in cross-border transactions, Meagher advises Chinese investors in their overseas investments, both in North America and Europe, as well as assisting European and North American companies buying and selling businesses in China and Asia. Meagher provides fundraising and fund structuring services for private equity funds that invest in companies doing business between China and the rest of the world. He is also interested in investing in restructuring opportunities, especially North American and European owned businesses in China.

Meagher is a member of the Board of Directors of the Shanghai Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth, an international association for merger and acquisitions middle market professionals.

Meagher earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Boston University School of Law. He received a bachelor’s degree from Boston University College of Liberal Arts. Meagher is fluent in Chinese and English.
