Robert Spitzer works as a real estate attorney and an owner of Garvey Schubert Barer law firm in Seattle, WA. Spitzer is also leader of the firm’s China Practice Group, working in the Beijing office on initiatives important to his China-based clients.

Spitzer focuses on business, finance and real estate. With more than 30 years of experience, Spitzer has bought and sold several enterprises, developed properties and oversaw manufacturing and real estate lending businesses.

Spitzer has advised companies in acquiring commercial properties and negotiated leases for millions of square feet. He has offered guidance in several bank workouts and served as a trustee on nearly a thousand deeds of trust, all involving commercial real estate. Also, he counsels business enterprises within Washington State and works regularly with foreign investors.

Spitzer has experience working for the Washington D.C. U.S. Justice Department. He was also a staff member for California State Senator John V. Tunney and served as a clerk for a Washington Supreme Court Justice Robert Brachtenbach.

Spitzer’s professional activities include being a faculty member of the Commercial Real Estate Certificate Program at the University of Washington and a member of the Real Property and Probate Section of the Washington State Bar Association.

Spitzer received his Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Columbia University School of Law, New York, in 1980, and he earned his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree, with honors, from Stanford University, California, in 1976. He is admitted to practice law in the state of Washington.
