Steve Bender is a Canadian immigration consultant and a partner with Dentons multinational law firm. Bender’s practice covers all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisition, development, financing, and leasing. Additionally, a major focus of his legal practice is based on climate change strategies, environment, energy, and natural resources.

For the past twenty years, Bender has concentrated his legal efforts on the acquisition, development, financing, and operation of major industrial projects, including industrial manufacturing and distribution facilities, power plant projects, and solid waste disposal facilities throughout the United States. A significant segment of his practice includes the acquisition and development of electric transmission, natural gas, and waterline right-of-ways for supplying and interconnecting power plant projects.

Some of the notable projects Bender has worked on include: representing United Parcel Service’s (UPS) real estate interests in the relocation of the company’s world headquarters from Greenwich, Conn. to Atlanta, Ga.; Mid-Georgia Cogen, a 300 megawatt dual-fuel, combined cycle cogeneration project in Georgia; the first independent power plant built in the state; and Imperial Solar Energy Center West, a 1,100-acre photovoltaic solar project in Imperial County, Ca., and Long Island, New York Project, a 1,000-acre solar generation project.

Bender received a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from Emory University School of Law, Atlanta. He earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree, magna cum laude, from Mercer University School of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from Mercer University, also in Georgia.

Bender is a member of the American Bar Association and the Atlanta Bar Association. He has been recognized as a Georgia Super Lawyer in Atlanta magazine for the past six years. He speaks English.
