How can I apply for an 887 visa in Australia if my spouse already holds a 489 visa?

Can I apply for an 887 visa as primary applicant while my wife holds a 489 visa as a primary applicant? She updated that we are not living together to the immigration department. Will it affect my visa?

If you have satisfied the conditions of the 489 visa on your own,  you can apply for the subclass 887 visa in Australia. The applicant for subclass 887 need not be the main applicant for the previous subclass 489 visa, but must have met the required residency and work requirements.

Short and simple answer is yes, you can apply. No, it will not affect your visa application. If it were my wife, I would include her in my 887 visa application. Your visa will not be affected by you declaring not living with your wife, the primary assessment is on your eligibility. Relationship-wise with your wife, Australian immigration should begin with your marriage certificate, and ask you for evidence if they have doubt about the nature of your relationship. If you remain unsure, then get an Australian lawyer or RMA go through all your documents to confirm.
