Are there other donation options for Malta’s citizenship-by-investment program?
On my CBI application, instead of donating to the National Development and Social Fund, can I donate to something else? Other countries allow residency or citizenship through donations to the arts, for example. What about Malta? Would I need some kind of special exemption if I made a sizable contribution to a public-serving entity, like a university, arts or civic park?

The 650,000 contribution to the Malta Development and Social Fund is a mandatory requirement of the IIP. Donations to other causes may be made on a voluntary basis and will be considered an asset in the assessment of one’s application.

The funds remitted to the National Development and Social Fund cannot be considered a donation due to the fact that such funds make up the compulsory contribution that must be paid in order to obtain Maltese citizenship through the Individual Investor Program. Additional donations can be made on an optional basis to a number of recognized entities that can further substantiate your IIP application.
