Could I apply for Portugal's G7 visa with previous DUI convictions?

In light of recent political developments in the United States, I am considering relocating to Portugal. I have two DUI convictions, one from 2006 and another from 2011. No jail time was involved, all fines were paid, and community service was completed. Would I be eligible for a G7 visa?

Under Portuguese Foreigners Law, both visas and residence permits are not granted to individuals with convictions for crimes punishable in Portugal by a penalty of deprivation of liberty exceeding one year. In Portugal, a DUI offense typically carries a penalty of one year or more. However, since your DUI convictions date back to 2006 and 2011, the offenses are considered to have lapsed due to the passage of time. Consequently, they are no longer relevant to the immigration process, and you would remain eligible to apply for the D7 visa.
