Can I apply for the Portugal golden visa and only stay there during the summer?

Is there a minimum stay requirement? Also, if I move and stay somewhere else in the EU, would that be on record?

In order to obtain the golden visa, you must stay in Portugal for no less than 7 days in the first year and no less than 14 days in subsequent years. As you can see, you can do it during summer.

The Golden Visa permit will require a stay in the country of 7 days per year, which is compatible with your intention to visit only during summertime. However, should your intention be to reside in other EU countries, it will be necessary to verify their specific requirements. The PT Golden Visa residency permit only grants you the right to visit other countries in the European Union, but not reside.

The Golden Visa minimum stay requirements are 14 days per the 2-year validity of the residence card. The Golden Visa holder can travel freely as a tourist within the Schengen area.

If you apply for a Golden Visa in Portugal, you become eligible for citizenship after five years. Unlike other countries, you do not actually need to live in Portugal during that period to acquire citizenship via the Golden Visa route. You only need to spend seven to fourteen days per year in the country. There will be no record in case of living in another country during the five-year period.

On September 18, 2023 Sara Sousa Rebolo answered:

Golden Visa program has a minimum stay requirement of 14 days every two years. In the Schengen area, the holder can stay up to 90 days in each period of 180 days.
