How can I re-enter Japan after having been convicted of a crime and deported over 5 years ago?

In 2017, I received a suspended sentence of 3 years in Japan with a probation period of over 5 years, because of attempting to bring a counterfeit bank card into Japan. Do I have a chance to re-enter Japan under these circumstances? Can I visit on a tourist visa? Do I need special permission to enter, and if so, what steps do I need to take?

Unfortunately, you will not be allowed to re-enter Japan due to your conviction. Your criminal record in Japan will not give you a chance to enter for years even if you have specific humanitarian grounds requiring your presence in the country. Please take a look at Article 5 of the Japanese immigration code.
