Portugal Single Digital Nomad Visa applicants need to demonstrate their means of subsistence. This can be done through their employment contract, demonstrating their average monthly income derived from their professional activity for the past three months. It needs to be at least equal to four times the guaranteed minimum monthly wage in Portugal. For the year 2024, the amount is €3,280 per month for the applicant. Therefore, only income derived from the applicant's professional activity qualifies for the digital nomad visa.

How can I combine my income to qualify for the Portuguese digital nomad visa?
I'm seeking to move to Portugal on the digital nomad visa but my salary falls short of the threshold of 3000 Euros. I wonder if I have proof of another type of income that's not work (property rental) would that make me qualify for the visa?

For the D8 - Digital Nomad Visa application, the law requires "Proof of average monthly income earned while carrying out subordinate or independent professional activity in the last three months of a minimum amount equivalent to four guaranteed minimum monthly wages;" (€3.280,00) as such, by principle, the income proof shall not be acceptable when accumulated with passive income, however, this does not mean that the services, subjectively, might not adopt a more flexible understanding of such criteria when analyzing the application.
