I work remotely for a U.S. company and will be moving to Italy this fall. Can I get my residency permit based on the digital nomad visa that was approved in March? Is it currently in effect? If not, is there any way I can prepare for my application ahead of time?
The introduction of the digital nomad visa in the Italian immigration system has been approved in March of this year, however, we are still expecting its implementation through a decree that will amend the current Italian immigration law and set the requirements, processing time and procedure, as well as supporting documents to be complied with in order to apply for this type of visa.
Italy's digital nomad visa is not operative yet.
