I’m a golden visa holder and my visa is due for renewal this June. Will I be denied renewal if I don’t start a business venture?
Currently, the law in force for renewals of a Golden Visa is exactly the same, meaning proof of investment maintenance. It is possible that amendments to the Golden Visa law may change the requirements but those amendments are not yet known nor are in force.
The amendments proposed by the Government will be discussed in the Parliament and no changes have yet been implemented. Therefore, at present, the renewals regime remains the same and possible changes to the renewals regime will most certainly be unconstitutional, which will allow you to act in case of need.
We still do not know what the final draft of the program will be. Anyhow, the renewal should not be denied. We recommend our clients do the renewal as soon as possible (90 days before the date).
The government declared its intention to change the renewal rules, but the law has not been released yet. It's uncertain what will be the terms for it.
