According to the provisions of the new law, 4764/2020, an applicant, who has bought a property in Greece with a minimum value of 250,000 euros, can apply for a permanent residence permit without entering Greece. Such an applicant can sign a power of attorney at the Greek embassy in his/her country and authorize a lawyer to submit the application to the immigration office and get their blue paper on their behalf. The applicant must, however, enter Greece within 12 months from the date this blue paper is issued to them so that their fingerprints can be taken. The same procedure would be applied to the applicant's family members as well.

How can investors submit applications for the Greek golden visa program without visiting the country?
I'm an investor based in China and I've heard one can submit golden visa applications via a proxy. How does this process work and what requirements would I have to meet?

You have to sign a power of attorney at the Greek embassy in China, send it to your lawyer who will then buy the property and apply for residence on your behalf. You will then have to visit Greece just one time to give your fingerprints before a residence card is issued to you.

An investor can authorize a lawyer by signing an authorization paper at the Greek embassy in his home country, which must be written in Greek. The requirements would then be taken care of by the designated lawyer.

Ιt is true! Since Dec. 23, 2020, Greece has adopted new measures to facilitate foreign investors’ plans. Golden Visa investors can now complete all procedures from where they currently reside, including the application of a Greek tax number, opening of a Greek bank account; from acquisition of properties to business plan elaboration or intangible investments’ implementation and the submission of their Golden Visa application without having to travel to the country. All they need to do is sign a power of attorney at a Greek consulate that is nearest to their current residence. Temporary Greek resident permits will be issued upon successful application and investors, along their family members, would be able to enter Greece with their Blue cards, within 12 months of submission of their biometric data, regardless of the travel restrictions that might be imposed. Permanent resident cards are expected to be issued in 2 months thereafter.
