We are a family of four and interested in the Turkish CBI program. I have two daughters aged 13 and 18. I understand that citizenship is granted to children below 18 years of age. When I apply, will my 18-year-old daughter get citizenship? If not, can we apply separately for her once we get citizenship?
Since your daughter is 18, you will not be able to benefit her from the investment you made for the CBI based application. Since she is an adult under Turkish laws, she will need to make her own application based on her own investment. There is no other program allowing relatives of citizens (obtaining citizenship by CBI) to later apply for citizenship based on such family connection.
Your daughter who is over 18 cannot be granted Turkish citizenship through the Turkish CBI program according to the citizenship regulation. But if you buy a small cheap apartment under her name, then she can apply for a resident permit through property investment. If she stays five years continuously with the residence permit, then she can apply for citizenship in Turkey.
The the18-year-old child won't be able to acquire Turkish citizenship depending on the applicant. In this context, I would suggest applying for citizenship by investment or residence permit on behalf of the child who is 18 years old.
You can apply for your daughter who is13 years old directly with you. And also you can take resident permission for your 18 years old daughter. Five years after getting resident permission, you can also apply to acquire citizenship for your 18 years old daughter. If you don't want to wait you can make a $250,000 investment for her and directly apply to acquire citizenship. But if she will educate in turkey, also as a foreigner she will have some advantages. Because of that, I will suggest you ta wait five years without making any extra investment for her and then acquire citizenship.
As you know, Turkish citizenship covers children under 18 years old so the only alternative is to purchase another property worth $250,000 under your daughter's name. As another alternative other than citizenship we may apply for a resident permit for your daughter and renew it on a yearly basis.
According to the Turkish Law, the applicant who wishes to acquire Turkish citizenship by investment and his/her spouse and his/her children that are under 18 will obtain Turkish citizenship without any further processing. That's why adult children can not benefit from the CBI program with their parents. If your adult daughter wants to obtain Turkish Citizenship she has to apply for Turkish Citizenship as another applicant.
Your understanding is correct. Only children below 18 are granted citizenship. You will need to make another application for your 18-year-old daughter.
