How is the UK’s start up visa different from the investor Tier 1 visa?

I’ve heard that the UK has recently started issuing more investor visas. Given that my eventual goal is to gain permanent residency and citizenship in the UK, would it make sense if I apply for an investor visa even though I’m interested in launching a start up in the UK?

The main difference between a start-up and Investor Tier 1 visa is that you can be a director of a company on an Investor visa. For an investor visa, you will need to have access to at least £2 million and be willing to invest your funds in actively trading UK companies.

Yes, if you qualify for the investor visa you can apply and take advantage of the accelerated settlement option. You will have the right to set up your own business in the UK and the visa will not depend on the performance of this business.
