How long does it take for a Portuguese Golden Visa to be issued after biometrics?

I applied for a Golden Visa in Portugal in May. The immigration officers accepted the application and took the biometrics, but they didn’t accept the payment at that point. It is December now and they still haven’t asked for the payment. I don’t know when a visa will be issued. Is this normal? Who should I follow up?

The process should not exceed 90 days, but there are currently a large number of immigrants in Portugal, which ultimately delays the progress of the processes due to the insufficient number of employees. In your case, it would be interesting to contact SEF asking about your process.

Once the residency application is submitted, the Immigration and Border Services (SEF) will analyze and give their approval. The average time for the processing of approvals is currently six to nine months. Upon approval, the residency card fees are paid and the cards are generally available within four weeks.
