If I have a child while living in Portugal on a Golden Visa, how can that child become a Portuguese citizen?

I have been living in Lisbon for about a year and recently had a baby. How do I ensure this baby is here legally? Do I have to inform authorities about a visa? Is this child eligible for Portuguese citizenship?

As a Golden Visa holder/temporary resident title holder, you can choose to submit a family reunification request for all of your family members. In this sense you will have apply for family reunification for the newborn in order for him to become a holder of a GV/temporary resident title. Even though the baby is born in Portugal, he would only be eligible for nationality if the mother or father, or both, was also born in Portugal. This is also if, at the moment the baby is born, the father or mother have legally resided in Portugal for at least five years.

I hereby inform you that the investor's family may enjoy the same benefits. The application for family reunification may be made at the time of the application for the grant of ARI or at a later stage, at the investor's convenience. The family members are also eligible for permanent residency after five years.
