How can I travel abroad with a Portugal manifest of interest document?

I have a manifest of interest in Portugal. I was wondering if it's possible to travel to another country with this document? What should I expect?

The manifestation of interest is primarily used by individuals who have entered Portugal without a residence visa, and seek to establish legal residency within the country. Therefore, it is important to note that this procedure is solely applicable within Portugal's borders and does not serve as a travel document enabling travel to other countries. This process assumes that until the end of the process, the applicant remains in Portugal, meaning that upon leaving Portugal, they may be denied return.

Foreign citizens who have legally entered Portugal and that are registered with Social Security and have a proven employment relationship can request a manifestation of interest to obtain a resident permit in Portugal. The manifestation of interest is not a legal travel document, therefore the applicant must wait for the issuing of the residence permit to be able to travel abroad.

The proof of application to a Manifestation of Interest is only valid in Portugal.

The Expression of Interest is a document with validity in Portuguese territory and its mere proof of submission does not allow to travel in and out of Portugal. You should wait for the issuance of the Residency Permit. The consequences of traveling out of the country might be not being able to return.

The "expression of interest" is not a valid travel document and may not be recognized outside of Portugal. Therefore, it is not advisable to leave the country, considering foreign authorities may not recognize your right to return to Portugal.
