What are my options if I want to stay in Greece while waiting for my Golden Visa application to be processed?

I want to know if it is possible to keep staying in Greece while my Golden Visa application is pending. Do I need to apply for a special type of visa? Does the fact that I apply for a Golden Visa automatically grant me access to Greece?

The authorities receiving the investor's application will issue a confirmation that the application has been submitted, provided that all the necessary documentation has been submitted with the application. This confirmation, called a temporary residence permit, is valid for one year and it constitutes an evidencing document until the resident permit is issued within a two-month period. The third-country citizen who has submitted an application and received the confirmation receipt described above can reside legally in the country for the duration of the confirmation receipt (one year). The holder of the confirmation receipt is entitled to the benefits of the resident permit that they have applied for.

A third-country citizen who has applied for a resident permit (the Golden Visa) and has received an application certificate confirmation for a resident permit is legally a resident in the country for as long as it is valid (which is one year). The holder of the application can enjoy the benefits of a resident permit owner.

It is possible to keep staying in Greece while the Golden Visa application is pending. The applicant is covered due to the application for Greek Golden Visa.

If you apply for the Golden Visa and the documents are all in place, you will receive a blue card (or waiting papers). These replace the visa and you can stay longer in Greece.

Please be aware that until your Golden Visa is approved, the applicable law, as it is already is still in force, is that until your visa is issued, nothing in particular changes regarding your status as a foreigner.
