What are the requirements for a QIIP investor to manage a business in Canada?

Our family is considering investing in the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program. I have owned and managed a successful company in Shanghai for more than 10 years. Even if we participate in the QIIP, I would like to continue as owner and manager of my company. Is this allowed or do I have to start a business opportunity in Canada?

There is no requirement, as the investment is passive. You just pay and have no requirements to start any business.

You can continue operating your company. There is no obligation to start a company in Canada. However, the law required that a new permanent resident must stay physically in Canada 730 days for each five-year period.

There are no requirements to start a business after landing in Canada for the QIIP. You can do whatever you want when you arrive in Quebec. You can keep your business in China.

Under the QIIP program, you have no obligation to start a business. It is the sole remaining strictly investor program in Canada (as opposed to all the other entrepreneurial-based programs). You could also continue to operate your business in China, provided that you fulfill the minimum federal residency requirements (730 days every five years).
