What are the criminal record requirements for Turkey’s citizenship by investment program?
I’m an Iraqi citizen and have been living in Turkey for the past eight years as a student. Now that my student visa is soon going to expire, I’m considering buying property and applying for citizenship. There is no requirement to submit criminal records for CBI applications and there is no specific criteria for persons with criminal records within the relevant laws. Traffic offences in general should not be an obstacle, however, it shall be noted that the Ministry of Internal Affairs render its own security checks during CBI processing will notice the records and has wide discretion for issuing approval.
