The SEF's recent announcement to chronologically schedule biometrics appointments for golden visa applications, which is already in force, has made it possible for accepted applicants to choose a period when they (and their families) can come to Portugal and have their biometrics data taken, instead of having to depend on another applicant’s appointment cancellation. Since it is now possible to freely schedule the appointments and organize the needed files, it consequently makes processing times faster.

The SEF's recent initiatives regarding appointments by chronological order are good news for investors. With this measure, the SEF is solving all pending applications of 2020 until the end of the first trimester of 2022, which means that old applicants that are not able to come right now or recent applicants in position to book will have access to the calendar soon, in a more transparent, balanced and fair manner.
