I was working with a Portuguese startup from October 2023. To proceed with the AIMA appointment for the residence card, it is essential to present an employment contract in Portugal that is in accordance with D3 visa requirements. Therefore, finding another job with a different company prior to the AIMA appointment is necessary to obtain the permit.
As your visa was requested at a time when your employment contract was still in force, there is no jeopardy of it being, at this point, canceled. As such, you will be able to come to Portugal using the visa that is issued. However, once in Portugal, and in order to be able to apply for a residency permit, you will have to find a new employer, as the employment contract is a criterion that must be legally fulfilled for that end.
