When submitting a digital nomads visa (“D8”) application, the origin of the professional income should be demonstrated by a work contract of services agreement, together with the proof of income being effectively received; among other documentation and requirements.

The D7 Visa Portugal requirements are as follows. You must be a non-EU national, and earn a passive income of at least €760 per month (your income can come from pensions, transferable equity, real estate, intellectual property, or financial equity). As for the proof of financial means, this can include bank statements, a letter from your employer confirming your salary and employment status, as well as income tax returns, payslips, and savings accounts.

Digital Nomad Visa requests an average of monthly income of €2.820. To prove it, the applicant shall have the contract / agreement / invoice and proof of the funds' reception in his/her bank account.

The contract, whether for work or for the provision of services, will always be necessary to demonstrate the link with the foreign employer. However, to prove the average monthly income for the previous three months, payslips are sufficient.
