  The lockdown is only temporary. It should not affect investors looking to apply for business/investment visas. Processing goes on as usual and is irrelevant to Sydney's lockdown. If you have the documents ready, you can start applying anyway as the processing is on a first come, first served basis. Remember also that securing a state nomination, which is the first step towards ensuring an invite for an application for a subclass 188 visa, may take a while too. If you have secured a nomination, you only have 60 days to lodge and should not miss the opportunity. Therefore, it is best to start the process now and you will be in the processing queue much earlier.

  The prime minister has announced a four-stage plan to reopen Australia under “The National Plan to Transition Australia’s National COVID-19 Response”, which will be implemented shortly. As COVID-19 vaccination programs become available worldwide, the Australian government is considering options to recommence international travel. This will be a gradual process informed by expert health advice. Investors’ visas will be processed as usual; however, their initial entry date will depend on Australia’s COVID-19 Response plans such as allowing investors to visit who have been vaccinated. As visa processing time can take considerable time under the circumstances, I would advise to apply at the earliest opportunity.

  Sydney's lockdown is temporary and it is for three weeks only. The outcome of a business and investor visa might take between one and two years. The whole process, for either state sponsorship or a visa, is online. Nothing prevents you from applying for a visa.
