When could there be a Golden Visa backlog in Greece?

I read an article today claiming that the immigration authorities of Greece will soon put some restrictions on the annual number of Golden Visas issued to foreign investors, similar to the EB-5 visa backlog of the U.S. When might this happen? What will happen with the applications already filed?

No such official announcement has taken place to our knowledge. What you read maybe has to do with some usurpers of the Golden Visa legislation who are using illegal means for the Golden Visa with less than a 250,000 investment granted.

The Greek Government has not passed a law that would change the grant procedure of a Golden Visa.

The Golden Visa program was launched in Greece in 2014 and since then has seen rapid growth, with international investors embracing the option to invest in Europe. It has been optimized to include more flexible, inclusive and friendly terms. In an effort to attract a broader variety and an even larger number of investments, the Greek government is discussing some upcoming amendments for the Golden Visa program, which are under public discussion and a vote in the near future. Additionally to the above, the Greek government, in order to support the competent authorities with the growing volume of incoming investors, has proceeded to related measurements. It does not seem that the Greek program will face a restriction, but in such a case, applications already successfully filed and submitted will be accordingly approved.
