Why should Hongkongers with BNO passport opt for the new permanent residency stream announced by Canada instead of going for the UK option?

I’m a fresh graduate who studied in Canada and has a BNO passport from Hongkong. What advantages does Canada’s new stream have for people like me who also have the option to now go live and work in the UK?

Canada's new stream may be better choice for young Hongkongers as it targets the young professionals. BNO scheme has certain financial threshold for applicants. For example, BNO scheme applicants are required to show financial records demonstrating that they can support themselves and any accompanying dependents for at least six months. On the other hand, Canada's schemes do not require secured employment or any financial threshold from the applicants. Canada's scheme is also simpler and shorter. The Open Work Permit scheme for Hong Kong people only requires applicants to work in Canada for one year, and then they can apply for permanent resident. While the BNO scheme for UK requires the applicants to live in UK for five years before they submit their immigration applications.
