Will becoming a Vanuatu citizen be made public?

I am looking to obtain a Vanuatu passport but my country of origin forbids dual citizenship. How can I best maintain my privacy and get a second passport through Vanuatu’s program?

I would say that up to 50 percent of our applications are from individuals whose existing country of nationality does not allow second citizenship, including Vietnam, China, Malaysia, Korea, Japan, Indonesia and Singapore. The list is extensive. As a matter of policy, Vanuatu does not, and is not obliged to, release the names of people who are citizens of the country. That is sovereign information. Vanuatu does allow dual citizenship, so this is not an issue on the Vanuatu side. When carrying a Vanuatu passport, the holder should just exercise care when exiting his country of principle nationality not to reveal to immigration that he is holding a second passport. He will, however, be able to share that information with the airline, as they will need to know that he has right of landing in the destination country for which the Vanuatu passport might be providing the visa-free access.

The names of persons who obtain citizenship are not published in Vanuatu.
