Would the family lose their residency rights in Japan if the foreign investor, who is the main applicant, dies?

What rights to live and work does the family of an investor with residency in Japan have? Would they still be able to continue living in Japan, if for example, the main applicant dies?

Generally, a family member loses the dependent status after the main applicant dies. If immigration authorities find any humanitarian grounds, for example, if a person has been in Japan a quite a long time, was born in Japan, or graduated from an elementary, junior high, and/or high school in Japan, they may be allowed to change the status to a long-term residence or another status.
