What are the physical presence requirements for Cyprus CBI applications during the six-month residency period?
I learned that with the new rules, even CBI applications of Cyprus must first hold residency for six months before obtaining citizenship. What are the physical presence requirements for this six-month period? Could failing to meet these requirements impact my ability to get citizenship?

At the moment it is not required to actually reside in Cyprus during the first six months. The adult applicants are required to visit Cyprus during the submission of their residency application to take biometrics for their PR card issuance and then again for their passport application.

Currently, there are no requirements in place as to a physical presence during the six-month residency period. What the six-month residency period requirement essentially means is that if the application for obtaining permanent residency (for citizenship purposes) is submitted on the same day that the application for citizenship is deposited, at least six months need to pass from the date that the permanent resident permit is obtained for citizenship to be granted (provided that all the other requirements for obtaining citizenship are met).

The requirement is referring to the status of residency and not the actual physical presence of the applicant. Therefore, there is no such requirement to physically be in Cyprus. Residency is given by exception at the time of application for the Cyprus investment program.
