Can I help with a reforestation project to gain both profits and a Panama resident visa?
I am interested in the government-sponsored reforestation projects that involve replanting trees to be harvested for lumber. But if I spent the minimum amount for my visa, can I get in on the business side as well? How can I use my reforestation visa to join that industry? Or does the government take those profits?

Most, if not all, government-approved reforestation companies will offer a business plan with a profit (usually, long term) on harvesting lumber. The government does not take those profits. Their gain is actually incentivizing reforestation companies and attracting investors. When needed, we can introduce applicants to a couple of these companies, so they can evaluate which one suits them better, keeping in mind that the minimum required investment is $80,000 U.S. dollars.

The forestry visa requires you to invest a minimum of $80,000 U.S. dollars in a government-approved project. The projects are offered by different private companies, with a hardwoods management plan to harvest after 20 to 25 years from initial planting, where offered prices and management costs will vary. As it is your investment, you will join the industry as you will own the acquired property.
