Can I still apply to the startup visa and marry after I graduate from my Master's?

I was planning on applying for the startup visa upon completing my Master's degree and marrying my partner (he's also foreign but with a work visa). Would that be allowed now? Or should we look at the option of getting a residency visa as my partner's wife?
