You should be able to amend your Expression of Interest (EOI) before the invitation so long as you have the appropriate official results. The same would apply to your PTE test when you receive your updated result.

Can I use a renewed PTE and expired Naati to apply for the 189 visa?
I received an invitation while I had an expired PTE and Naati. However, I retook my PTE test a month ago and my Naati test one week ago. I forgot to update my new PTE result, but I got the same proficiency range with claiming ten in the past and new PTE. For my Naati, I still have not gotten my result, but the day my test was taken was one week before I got invited. Can I use these new valid English tests and apply for my 189 visa?

The points claimed in the EOI that resulted in the invitation must be evidenced and accepted during the visa processing otherwise the visa application must be refused. For English competency, the requirement is that the test was conducted three years before the day you were invited. As you completed the new PTE test before the date of invitation, this will not be an issue. When the visa application is made, you can provide the new PTE test results, and this will meet the requirements to claim the English competency points. You may have an issue with the credentialed community language (CCL) qualification requirement. This requirement for the language test with NAATI is based upon the date that NAATI recognizes you as being "awarded or accredited" a "qualification" in the language by NAATI. This would then be the date in the NAATI letter that recognizes this requirement. Usually, this will be the date of the letter's issue confirming the requirements are met, not the exam date. I recommend you contact NAATI to request they issue a letter confirming you meet this requirement from the date of the exam to ensure it is valid on the day of invitation. I believe there may be an issue with how this is conducted. NAATI regards passing the CCL exam as meeting the "qualification" requirements for the points, but only considering the validity period to be from the issue date of the confirmation letter. I have raised this issue with NAATI for their attention, and I recommend you take this up with NAATI as well.

You must satisfy the eligibility criteria for the points you claimed at the time of invitation. You must have valid English test results and the NAATI results on the date of invitation to meet the eligibility and points claimed by you. Tests taken after invitation would not meet these criteria, as they were not available on the date of invitation.
