Do I need to hire local workers for my Japanese immigrant investor visa?

I heard I need to set up an office in Japan, register a company and hire two full-time employees. I have an existing company abroad that I want to relocate to Japan. But can I move it to Japan and bring my existing workers with me to qualify for this visa? How can I make this work?

You do not need to hire local workers to obtain your Japanese investor visa, although it is not an immigrant visa. Once you set up an office in Japan and register a company with the investment of 5 million Japanese yen or more, you have a chance to obtain an investor visa. You can move your business to the newly established company in Japan. The work visa application for your existing workers will be examined one by one whether or not each can meet the visa requirement.
