How can I move to Greece on a Financially Independent Person visa?

I plan to move to Greece with a Financially Independent Visa. 1. I will make an irrevocable trust in the United States to make passive income. Is income from a trust recognized as passive income? 2. Can I get permanent residence or EU long term residence after five years residence? If yes, does permanent residency allow me to work or running a business?

According to Greek law, the amount of sufficient funds for financially independent persons has been set at minimum 2,000 euros per month. If accompanied by family members, this amount increases by 20% for the wife and 15% for each child. The amount of resources must be proved by an existing bank account at a Greek bank, or proof must be given showing sufficient financial, legal origin funds, to cover their living expenses without providing dependent work or carrying out independent economic activity in Greece. So, in your case, if you can prove the existence of necessary funds for the initial period of two years in a bank account, it would be acceptable. The passive nature of the income is not a critical factor if it is not generated in Greek market.

You have to enter with visa type D and prove that you have an income of 48,000 euros. Passive income is fine.
