How can I choose which artistic projects I can invest in to get a Portuguese golden visa?
A friend of mine has a dance company that aims at preserving and modernizing dance heritage from the Amazigh tribe in North Africa. The company is based in Porto. Would an investment in this company count as a cultural contribution that could get me a golden visa?

GEPAC is the Portuguese authority in charge of the approval of the investments tha are eligible for GV. Once the eligibility of the project is verified, then the investor may advance with the execution of the investment, sending the receipt of the transference done, among other documents, to the GEPAC, so that this cabinet can emit a declaration that the investor must submit their Golden Visa request to the SEF. Any entity can submit an investment project for approval by GEPAC and make a project eligible for the Golden Visa.

The artistic or cultural project to invest in needs to be selected from a list of eligible projects published by GEPAC, which corresponds to the Office for Cultural Strategy, Planning and Evaluation. The funds must first be transferred from your foreign bank account to a Portuguese bank account from which the investment will be made. Thus, this investment only can be used to get a Golden Visa if your friend's artistic project has been previously approved and is on the list of eligible projects shared by GEPAC.

The Cultural Golden Visa demands a public entity, in general terms, to be the one responsible for receiving the funds and managing the execution of the project, which shall be located in Portugal.

Investments that are already approved as eligible for the Golden Visa are made available by GEPAC, the Portuguese authority in charge of this approval. Any entity that meets the legal requirements can submit an investment project for approval by GEPAC and, as such, make a project eligible for the Golden Visa.
