With regard to the right to obtain a 10-year residence permit, a number of factors need to be taken into account. Firstly, not all temporary or multi-annual residence permits entitle you to apply for a residence permit. For example, a temporary residence permit bearing the word "student" does not entitle the holder to apply for a 10-year residence permit. You should therefore check that the residence permit you hold gives you this right. Secondly, with regard to the residence requirement, residence in France must have been uninterrupted. However, certain absences are authorized (maximum of 6 consecutive months out of a total of 10 months) and are taken into account when calculating the 5 years.
