How do the Australian authorities judge character when it comes to approving business innovation and investor visas?

I know that I need to have my health screening and other requirements to obtain an Australian immigrant investor permit, but what factors go into the judging of character? Do they look at me and family, or just me? What kind of things do they look for? Are interviews required or reference letters?

For character assessment, you will need to provide police checks from your country of residency and any other country you have lived in since turning 16 for a cumulative period of 12 months or more over the past 10 recent years. Your record must be clear, and you must not have had a jail sentence of more than 12 months whether cumulative or per charge. Form 80, which is a character assessment form, also requires your work, address, education and visa history to be stated. They look at every applicant in the application. If you, as the primary applicant, fail in the character assessment, then the secondary applicant(s) will not be considered. You must also not have been involved in business or investment activities that are not considered acceptable in Australia. Interviews may sometimes be requested depending on the type of information they may require. Reference letters would help, but they are not the primary consideration of assessment for your character. Compliance in areas of business are also weighed, i.e., tax compliance and licensing.

An applicant's character is judged by all available public information and police checks from each country he or she has lived in. No reference letters are required unless the applicant has criminal convictions or currently stand legal trial. He or she must be legally found guilty. Health and characters are separate issues, but if one family member fails, all fail.

All applicants over the age of 18 are required to provide police clearances. If there is a record, arguments and submissions need to be done.

The character requirements are met by obtaining police checks from every country where you have lived for at least 12 months in the last 10 years. Every applicant over the age of 18 will need to obtain police checks.
