How efficient is the New Zealand investor visa processing?

Is the New Zealand investor visa really taking 1 week to be completed? And what could happen to the program after May 3?

Given that the changes to investor visas only came into effect on 01 April 2025, I think that the investor migrant policy changes in New Zealand that would be published on 03 May 2025 would be an in-depth academic analysis and publication and, at this point, still considered to be in the early stages. With regard to processing time, Immigration New Zealand is working on reducing the time frame for all visas, and they aim to complete them at the earliest. At this point in time, a seven-day completion timeframe for the entire process is not realistic under the current policy. You should rely on official information from Immigration New Zealand for accurate processing timelines.

I am a licensed immigration adviser for NZ and yes, my client received approval for the new NZ Active Investor Plus visa after 1 week. This is an exception though, and not typical. You should allow several months for the processing. There are no expected changes on May 3rd. This is the date for the Australian national election, and if the main opposition (the coalition) returns to power, then we may see a new Investor visa for Australia in the coming years. If the current party remains in power, we're unlikely to see any changes (no investor visa).
