You will need to prove you have legally earned and owned the investment funds. Loans don't count regardless if they bear interest or not.

How can I invest in New Zealand Investor Visa with loans from my cousin?
My cousin has offered to loan me $3 million New Zealand dollars to invest in the program, with zero interest over a period of five years. Will I be eligible to apply for the program with such a loan? What documents do I need to submit?

In terms of the actual investment, normal policy would apply. However, the main issue in this kind of situation, i.e., gifting of the funds, is to meet the policy requirements. Basically gifting cannot be a loan; it has to be unconditional. Proof that money was earned legally is required. The person being gifted, such as the applicant, still needs to meet the policy requirements, including the business experience requirements.
