Unfortunately, there's no way of anticipating the renewal. You can always inform AIMA of the urgency of the renewal, but because of AIMA's backlog, it is unlikely that it will be possible to do it successfully.

How can I renew my expired residence card faster?
I live in Portugal and have a Golden Visa. My residence card expired, and online renewal attempts have failed. I understand that renewal is not yet open for "dependants." As the primary on our visa, my husband has been able to renew his visa and has a new card. Is there any way to expedite my renewal since I need to travel within the Schengen region?
