How would my medical history affect my chances of getting a visa to live and work in Malta?

Would it matter if an investor's medical file showed a history of something serious like cancer or mundane like syphilis? Do applicants have to even reveal their medical history when applying for investment immigration in Malta?

Investors applying for both the Malta Permanent Residence Programme and the Citizenship for Exceptional Services by Direct Investment must be in good health. Investors and their dependents need to show that they do not have a contagious disease or significant health condition. As part of the application process, investors and their dependents need to undergo a medical review to determine that they will not be an unreasonable burden on the Maltese health system. The main applicant and their dependents also need to be in possession of health insurance.

Persons applying for the Malta Permanent Residence Program or for the Maltese Citizenship by Naturalization for Exceptional Services must undergo medical examination and disclose to the examining physician the existence in past or in present of certain medical conditions. Should the applicant have or had any of the illnesses, further medical information needs to provided together with the application. Past or present medical conditions do not make applicants automatically ineligible for the programs. Each case is considered on its own merit by an experienced medical board within the respective government agency.
