The choice of either donation or investment is a choice to be made by the investor based on their own personal circumstances. Whilst for a single investor the donation option can work out cheaper, it is not quicker or more efficient to obtain a passport by choosing this option. With regards to the investment option, this does provide a multitude of choices and the investor is able to purchase real estate, fractional real estate, or become a shareholder in the development company. Some of these options also offer the ability to earn returns and some offer developer buybacks at the conclusion of the mandated holding period. The minimum investment amount for the investment option is US $220,000, the minimum investment amount for the donation is US $150,000 for a single applicant, and US $200,000 for a family application.
