Is there enough time before it is scrapped?
Under the current draft of the law proposal only applications submitted until the 16th February would be accepted; however, this law has not yet been approved and we believe it is contrary to the Portuguese Constitution, therefore, we expect it to be amended in the final legal diploma.
Despite the announcement by the Prime Minister António Costa, we inform you that the possible new applications related to the Golden Visa process will be under public discussion and will go to the Council of Ministers on March 16th. Only after that will the authorities draft the proposal of the Law for the Assembly of the Republic. At this point, and with the information that we have, we cannot yet specify what will be applicable or when the possible changes will come into force. As soon as we have a proposed law, we will be able to say with certainty what could happen in the future. We advise you to move as fast as possible with the investment and main application submission, since the program is still working as normal.
Until these amendments get into force, you would be able to submit your Golden Visa application.
Under the proposal under public discussion, the time was the 16th of February, but that is just a proposal and we think it will be changed in the final version.
