What are the advantages for residency by investment applicants when donating a part of their investment to charities in New Zealand?

I've heard that foreign investor applicants can choose to donate 15 percent of their investment to registered charities in New Zealand. If I choose to donate, does it increase my visa chances in any way? Or can I opt to not donate and get a better return on my investment by choosing to invest in government bonds only?

The chances are pretty much the same and there are not many advantages except the officer and immigration may look at it more favorably.

For New Zealand investor visas, up to 15% can be philanthropic investment. Choosing to donate, does not increase your visa chances in any way because, in general, acceptable investments must be able to make a commercial return, and must have the potential to contribute to New Zealand's economy. You may choose to invest in government bonds only. However, you may note that investment in bonds, although acceptable, is not considered as a growth Investment. If you make a growth Investment, i.e. other than bonds and philanthropic investment, including shares, commercial property development etc., you can avail additional concessions, including reduction in the total amount needed to be invested for the visa, and also post visa residential requirements.
